Earth Friendly Commitments

At Pelican Beach Resorts, we pride ourselves on being able to provide you with memorable experiences. And, for generations, we’ve done so while maintaining the balance and natural beauty of a very delicate environment.

It is with your help that we continue to do so today through several conservation practices:

  • Water Supply

The water supply is about as natural as you can get. Rainwater, collected in large cisterns, is delivered to all basins and showers by energy-efficient pumps and pressure tanks. It’s then heated using flash heaters.

You can further help us in our conservation efforts by taking “Island Showers”:

    1. Turn the water on and rinse
    2. Turn the water off and lather
    3. Rinse
  • Power

Our resort is fully solar-powered. That includes lights, refrigerators, fans—the works! This is combined with energy-efficient outlets in all the rooms.

While the power supply can handle charging small items (phones, cameras, laptops), please note that using blow dryers and other heating appliances may lead to power loss.

If you have any medical electronics that you need to use, let us know. We’ll be more than happy to make sure you have adequate power available.

  • Waste

Our state of the art composting toilets minimize the use of freshwater while preventing contamination of groundwater.

Saltwater flushing and treatment with bacterial solutions also ensure that what little freshwater we do have on the island remains free of any contamination.

  • Marine Reserve Fees

The Marine Reserve Fee that’s included in every booking helps to maintain the South Water Caye Marine Reserve. Every time you choose to stay with us here at Pelican Beach Resorts, you’re contributing to the protection and preservation of the surrounding marine environment.
