Getting to Dangriga

Dangriga is on the southern coast of Belize, only a short 20 minute flight down the coast or a scenic 2 hour drive from Belize City. The drive from Belize City goes via the Western Highway to the capital of Belmopan, over the picturesque Hummingbird Highway and through the emerald Stann Creek Valley.

By Air (most convenient): US$186 per person round trip or US$105 per person one way. Approximate travel time 20 minutes

We are an agent of Tropic Air and Maya Island Air and are happy to handle your air transfers to/from the island.  Both local airlines have regularly scheduled 20 min. flights to and from Belize City and the Belize International Airport. Both Tropic Air and Maya Island Air have a half dozen daylight flights to Dangriga that coincide with arrivals and departures of the international airlines, as well as connections to towns along the coast and larger islands offshore.

Pelican Beach Resort, Dangriga is only two minutes from the Dangriga airstrip.

By Road:

On reaching Dangriga via the Hummingbird Highway on the south end of town:

– Turn left (north) just after the Stann Creek Ecumenical College,
– Head towards the telephone tower,
– A slight curve in Ecumenical Drive turns into Pen Rd and,
– This ends about ¾ mile later at Pelican Beach Resort!

If arriving by bus, take a taxi from the bus terminal – it is only one mile north to Pelican Beach Resort.

Getting to South Water Caye

South Water Caye is located atop the Belize Barrier Reef, approximately 14 miles southeast of Dangriga.

From the dock in Dangriga at Pelican Beach Dangriga, it is a 35 – 45 min boat ride to South Water Caye. Boats are 25-30 ft. in length, depending upon the number of passengers. The trip is across the inner lagoon and past several islands including Coco Plum, Man O War Caye and Twin Cayes.

All boats are licensed by the Belize Coast Guard, operated by experienced and licensed captains, and carry life jackets and other safety equipment.
